Types of Projects

In all our biostatistical work, whether a single focused meeting or a multi-year relationship, we focus on the underlying scientific issues first, and only then consider specifically statistical concerns.  We are generalists and have collaborated in a number of different medical specialties (listed here).

Long-term and large-scale projects

We have collaborated with some investigators for longer then ten years, including the design of clinical studies, preparation of initial NIH grant application and resubmission when necessary.  Because of the extensive relationship with this investigator, we supported the subsequent clinical trial including all aspects of data management and data quality control, analysis and presentation of the results at scientific meetings, and subsequent publication of results.

For another group of investigators, we have assisted in the design and analysis of a series of animal experiments over many years.

Biostatistical Collaboration for Specific Projects

We have provided specialized biostatistical support to investigators as needed for specific projects. This includes assisting investigators preparing grant applications for either individual studies or larger projects, performing specific analysis for on-going projects, and assisting with existing manuscripts, responding to referee issues and undertaking supplementary analysis needed for the manuscript.

Ad Hoc Biostatistical Collaboration

We have provided collaboration to one group of scientists, over an extended period ( > 5 years). We answer their occasional questions -- and most recently provided a single number in answer to their question!

Training for Non-Statisticians

We have developed and led courses ranging from half-day workshops on study design and data analysis at national medical meetings to intensive two-week workshops on study design and analysis of clinical studies.  While at a Harvard Medical School instituion, our courses provided continuing medical education credits.
